Basil Restaurant – Review

We visited modern international restaurant chain Basil.

What2: A spacious modern family-owned chain of restaurants located in the heart of Bromley, popular with pre-theatre dinners and mid-shopping lunches.

Why2: Here at What2 we love trying out restaurants that have been around a while. One of these being Basil. It’s been on East Street Bromley for a few years so we decided to grab the crew and head down to sample it’s Italian finery. With a nicely presented restaurant; spacious and inviting; and varied Italian menu, Basil is definitely one to try. You’ve got popular dishes such as Carbonara but traditional starters like BBQ Chicken Wings. We tried the latter and they were how we liked ’em: sticky and tasty, plus the accompaniment of celery and blue cheese dip was very tasty. For the main we thought we’d be cheeky and ask our server if the chef would do us a Seafood Risotto (it wasn’t on the menu) -and they did! RESULT! We washed the food down with flavoursome non-alcoholic cocktail Tutti Fruiti. The restaurant isn’t that pricey; there were four of us and we spent just under £70. This works to about £15 each, including starters and drinks. They do however, do lunch deals including 2 courses for £7.95 and have an equally tasty menu to choose from. There’s an option for every price bracket.

Where2: 18-20 East Street, Bromley KENT BR1 1QU. The street has recently been renovated to a more pedestrian-friendly one with lots of outdoor restaurants and level pavements for wheelchairs and buggies. www.bromley.basilrestaurant.co.uk

When2: 12pm – 11pm

What2 says: Basil restaurant is tasty. A priced fairly for what you get. However, keep an eagle-eye on your receipt -the service charge can be pretty hefty. The chef made our dreams come true by creating us a hearty seafood risotto without it being on the menu, and the server was friendly and receptive to our needs. Ultimately we’d recommend coming here when the deals are on – visit their website – as they’ve got some bargain ones for post/pre theatre meals (they’re near Bromley’s Churchill Theatre.Facebooktwitterpinterestmail
