Grease sing-along comes this July so get those vocals chords ready; ‘Grease’ is the word and it’s coming to the Prince Charles Cinema every month for a sing-along and dress-up extravaganza.
You hear the words “sing-along” and you may think typical dot bouncing above words as they pass along the screen. Well think again. The Prince Charles Cinema is hosting a one-of-a-kind event for the super-est of Grease fans, and those that just love to exercise their diaphragm. At the Grease Sing-along and Dress-up not only is audience participation in the form of singing essential but punters are highly encouraged to come dressed up as their favourite characters. Whether you’re down with the ‘T-birds’ or a sassy ‘Pink Lady’, or wanting to go as the stars John Travolta or Olivia Newton-John, it’s all about making the in-movie experience that more interactive and becoming part of this classic film for the night.
You are now Class of 1959 seniors at Rydell High school, complete with 50’s baseball jackets, pop socks and tennis shoes. The evening will begin with a live show. To make sure your vocal chords and body parts are fully prepared for the musical mayhem that is about to ensue, the host will lead in some vocal warm up’s and equip the audience with various actions and jeers of which will be used at various points in the film… and just to make the experience more 4D, a goody bag with various “props” will be given to each movie-goer.
Sound like fun? You bet it will be. Events just like the Grease Sing-along and Dress-up are fast becoming all the rage. Forget sitting down and robotically stuffing popcorn in your face, it’s all about getting stuck into the movie and becoming an extra or even the star of your favourite classics. It’s the future of cinema and if you love musicals and have always dreamed of being in one… this screams you, dahhhling!
The Grease Sing-along and Dress-up is a bit pricey at £15 but lets be honest, when and where else will you get to totally live out your musical dreams and dress up as your favourite character from a film and sing-along (loudly, with actions) without getting asked to “shhhh”? Exactly!
It’s a one of a kind event and definitely worth checking out.
