1Uptown Caribbean- Restaurant – Review
Uptown Caribbean Cafe Bar & Restaurant is an independently-owned taste of paradise in the heart of London’s leafy Catford suburb.
What2: This tiny corner of Catford is home to authentic Caribbean dishes, desserts and cocktails that’ll have you driving from far and wide.
Why2: We regularly visit this spot for our favourites: Sweet Chilli Wings and their creamy Mac & Cheese. The interior is beachy; palm trees and bright colours, complimented by photos from the island the restaurant represents: Jamaica. Independently owned, the restaurant has worked hard on branding, taste, service and even recycling (all take-out containers are recyclable). If you don’t see what you’re after, just give the friendly chef a shout and he’ll check stock and may even rustle up the dish you’re looking for. You can choose to sit down for a meal, order out or enquire about their catering services.
Where2: 1 Sandhurst Market, Sandhurst Road, Catford LONDON
When2: 8am until 1am Mon-Thurs, 8am-1am Fri and 10am until 1am Sat. The restaurant is closed on Sundays. The website is currently under construction: www.uptown-restaurant.co.uk
What2 says: With a true feel of Jamaica -service and food to match- it’s definitely one to keep in your memory bank for places to take friends. There are loads of caribbean take-outs all over London, but Uptown Caribbean is definitely one of the best. It’s also easily reachable: a bus-stop directly outside in both directions, and within walking distance from Catford railway station. Uptown caribbean is great place to sit outside and watch the locals go by, have a celebration or have a quiet (and tasty) catch up over some authentic Caribbean food. Saturday’s is popular for take-away at the restaurant, so get there early to snatch up your favourite dish!
