Debris- Southwark Playhouse – Until May 17th

Southwark playhouse is that perfect all round theatre, that always host shows that are heart pulling and thought provoked. Last night we got the chance to check out Debris…

Debris is a two hander between two siblings, that take us on a journey of their past and their memory. When arriving into the space we instantly drawn to the set, which was minimal but had a balance of a lot going on. Straight away we were grabbed by the words of the male actor who addressed the audience by talking to us and opening up with his emotions.

Without giving away too much, Debris focuses on love, pain and the imagination. The acting is great with several moments of the characters being lost for words and us not knowing if they are genuinely lost for words… this male and female duo had it together.

With the actors playing brother and sister their was a classic relationship of its my turn to tell the story. Many parts of the play had us imagining exactly what they were describing.

Debris is written by Dennis Kelly in such a unique yet simple way that kept us engaged with what was happening but most importantly, we were addicted to the use of their language.

If your a theatre goer and looking for something to pull on your heart strings or to grasp a great use of creative language… Debris is for you.

Tickets are £16 and totally worth it.
