Caravaggio! Camberwell’s little gem! – REVIEW
Located in the heart of Camberwell, sits a cute little Italian cafe, bar and restaurant, Caravaggio! This is the perfect restaurant for any occasion, catering to all of your hunger needs!
Caravaggio has an warm and inviting decor and atmosphere, you feel right at home as soon as you step through the door. The staff are very charming and friendly, making you feel very welcome and comfortable with proper Italian hospitality. The restaurant has a small cafe dining area at the front for a smaller dining experience – great for a quick tea or coffee stop. At the back of the restaurant is a bigger and formal dining area, perfect for a fine dining experience.
We we’re first presented with the drinks menu, with their large selection of wines, champagnes and cocktails. We opted for a bottle of white Pinot Grigio and a bottle of house red, and both were very fruity and easy on the tastebuds. We also had glasses of fruit juices, which came in a very generous sized glass topped with lemon and lime slices to taste.
The food menu is pretty straight forward in terms of their Italian pasta, pizza, fish and meat standards, however, they have a number of specialty dishes including their steaks and their very popular Guineaufowl roast. For starters we had sardines, bruschetta and calamari; all dishes were served with a hearty side of vegetables. Our mains included Lamb Cutlets with mint sauce, Rabbit stew, Sea Food pasta and Guineafowl roast; all served with seasonal vegs and mash/roast potatoes. All of our dishes were simply divine to tast and we all had very generous portions, we were far too stuffed for desert after eating our mains!
We truly love this local Italian restaurant, it’s family friendly, very popular to the locals and they welcome walk-ins as well as reservations. The staff make you feel right at home and the food makes the experience even better!
