0Make A Play Date At London’s First Adult Playground
What To: An adult-friendly playground and exhibition exploring the Brutalist era estate play-areas of the 1950’s and 1960’s.
When to: 10th June – 16th August 2015
Where to: RIBA Architecture Gallery, 66 Portland Place, London, W1
Why to: Just because we’re adults doesn’t mean we don’t love a good play-around from time-to-time. The Royal Institute of British Architects are giving is the chance to explore the concrete-filled post-war playgrounds of the 50’s and 60’s through photo projections of children enjoying them, and trying one for yourself on a replica playground made of reconstituted foam. So no cut knees! There’ll be workshops and events running until the 16th of August where you’ll be able to delve deeper into the architecture and psychology behind these sprawling concrete structures.
